Monday, Monday... la la la la la la

This weekend was a doozie! I'll go backwards.

Last night, I watched Carnivale. It was creepy and most excellent. This show just gets better and better. I highly recommend it if you have HBO. Sundays at 9pm. But check out the HBO website too and read through all the episodes just to have some background. Before that, of course, I watched the Super Bowl with Em and Mom. We ate through a bowl and a half of salsa and two bowls of guacamole and three pita bread rolls with olive hummus. Well, that was mostly Mom and Em, as I hate olives. Plus, Em and I finished the cheesecake from Friday. Vanilla Bean Cheesecake. Oh so yummy! And as I hoped, the Pats beat the Eagles! Not that the Eagles weren't a valiant team and a worthy opponent. But the Pats have stamina and can run any team into the ground, as seen yesterday. The Eagles just sorta gave up towards the end. Ran the clock down with huddles, a couple of turnovers and just lackluster energy. Whereas the Pats, led by Branch (hello endorsements!), were on fire towards the end of the game. Sure, both teams sucked in the first quarter. But when it gets going, the Pats were focused and ruthless. And that's who should win.

Before that, I got my oil changed at Jiffy Lube. New customer, since Oil Stop was closed. They said they could flush out my coolant and put more in. I asked how much that would be - try tripling the price of an oil change! Oil change was just under forty. Standard price. Oil change and coolant flush - $120. Whatever. I think I can drive my car around for two more weeks without it boiling over or blowing up. I've been driving with dirty coolant for over a month. Two weeks isn't going to kill my car. Plus - I don't have $120 to spend on my car. I've got Norway to pay for. Before that, I was at church taking care of a couple kids. Mostly, it was Liam Howie. He's a cute kid, but he was having tantrums yesterday. He's two - what do you expect? I was the same way when I was that age. Random tantrums, even if Mom's around. I'm sure everyone had tantrums and acted like a brat at least once or twice.

I didn't get to sleep until one a.m. on Saturday because I was babysitting for the Wolfs. Spencer was acting the same as Liam on Sunday - terrible twos. Well... similarly I should say. Spencer got a little scared when Jafar started his rampage (we watched Aladdin) and then just never really got giggly again. But they're easy customers. Drew and Andrew went to see three movies in one night. Why? They host an Oscar party every year and they haven't seen all the nominated movies yet. So, they saw The Aviator, Hotel Rwanda and Sideways. The only one left for them is Million Dollar Baby, which only came out this weekend.

But I watched the SAG awards while the boys slept. Good precursor and predictor for the Oscars. So, Jamie Foxx will win Best Actor and Hilary Swank will win Best Actress. And it's still up for grabs for supporting actress because Natalie wasn't nominated for the SAG and Cate Blanchett won that. So.... should be interesting.

Before babysitting, I posted my review of The Wedding Date on my other blog, so check that one out. Em and I went shopping at Kohl's in Colma because she wanted to look for hip work clothes, but ended up buying some undies. Cute undies. I bought a green sweater. Very cute and fuzzy-soft. So, I'll wear that one if I want hugs. :) But getting to Kohl's was a task and a half. I was in a great mood and was trying to make Em laugh at any cost. It worked too at a couple points. We didn't get lost, but we didn't know exactly where Kohl's was. There's shopping both sides of the freeway. The reason we went up to Colma for Kohl's was because there was no parking in our lot. Stupid Open Houses. I know people want to sell their condos, but can they suggest a better time other than Saturday afternoon when everyone needs their parking spaces. This was after we went to see The Wedding Date and gorged on popcorn. And that was after we couldn't pay for parking. Fucking ticket machines. Huge roll of the eyes. I got up at nine to go to the bank and deposit some pounds - which I couldn't do because WaMu isn't commercial and I don't have an account at BofA. And I didn't do my oil change then because Oil Stop was choc-a-bloc. Total waste of gas.

But yeah - my weekend wasn't nearly as bad as some other people's. But you'll have to ask them about theirs. And I don't think they have blogs. Oh well.... I'm glad I earned some money! Yeah money! We like money! Money is good!

I'm starving. I wish I had a bagel.
