I am so tired. I really didn't want to wake up this morning. My alarm went off at 8am and I tried to use the snooze, but it didn't work and it kept beeping. So, I spent my first minutes of the waking day trying to fall back asleep. I eventually did until about 8:45 and then decided I should get up for work. The beauty of living a mere ten minutes walk away from work is that I can get that late and still be early getting to the office. I was the first one here at 9:25. I love Europe. And I don't have to stay late - I get to go home at 4:30 or so. Beautiful, extraordinary, fantastic.
I did absolutely nothing yesterday. I didn't evn get dressed, just lounged around and read. I found this book in my room - Into The Blue. Really good mystery book. I actually got chills by the end. Just because the ending is so fulfilling and goooood. Like I usually hate reading books like that because the endings, the climaxes, are either completely over the top and surreal or they're disappointing and lack any sort of oompf. But I totally recommend this one. He's a British author - Goddard. And he's got other books, which I might look for to read. I wish I had a library card or something here, because I don't want to spend a lot of money on books. Maybe I'll buy magazines. Cheaper and easy to read over and over again.
I stayed up late on Saturday and watched two movies - Ordinary People and The Joy Luck Club. I had read both books recently. Ok, I've of course seen Joy Luck already and read the book. But it was so good to see that film again. Mostly because it always makes me cry and a good cry at that. But the book Ordinary People is so much better than the film. The film left out some of the best parts of the book, like Con's relationship with Jeanette. That relationship was barely touched upon in the film. And at the end of the book, he becomes friends with his dead brother's best friend again. In the movie - nada. Lazenby was barely in the film. So, I don't know. It won Best Picture back in the day. And it is a very good movie. But damn - this time the book really is so much better. Like, I didn't even have to see the movie. I was already disappointed by the casting of Conrad and Calvin, although Mary Tyler Moore was a gem. She was really good as the seemingly uncaring, aloof mother.
Anyway, that's what on my mind. Time to wake up and work.
