Mondays for me are just another day now. This is what I love about this job. Sure, it's the first day after a weekend of no work, but there's no pressure to it being Monday. Happy me.
But today, I attempting to register for my SFSU classes. The open registration begins in a few minutes. I did have a priority registration time, but it was at 5:15 last Thursday. And I mean, 5:15 CA time. Which for me is 2:15 in the morning. And if I didn't do it then, I had to wait for open registration. But Friday was a slow day, so I left the office early and have to register today. But it's not like my classes are filling up fast. I mean, they are, but not so bad that I won't get into them. Em's classes are fuller, but that's due to her program. They accept more grad students.
So, of course, all this gets me thinking about what other classes I could take in the future. So, I look up all the German classes. Here are my favs: Deutsche Lustspiel (about german comedic lit), Age of Goethe (just because it'll be hard and you can't not study Goethe) and Issues of German Linguistic (for obvious reasons if you know me well). And then there are the Cinema classes that I could be able to incorporate into my MA. Here are the favs from that department: Avant Garde Cinema (why wouldn't I want to take this?), Silent Cinema (mostly German films as far as the bookstore is concerned), Documentary Film, and New German Cinema. Plus, I got to looking at other departments. History, Jewish Studies, Humanities. Just in case I can't take film courses.
Although, that would be stupid. Especially since it seems like a pretty covered field. Big department, lots of resources, German film is included in a lot of courses. I mean, there's a lot of Asian film as well. But it seems like they have EVERYTHING! Which by my standards is above and beyond what I could wish for in a collaborative effort. I wrote an email to the chairman of the department, just asking for a meeting during the fall semester.
And I also looked at if I might be used as a TA already in the first semester. They don't have a third prof, so I might be able to squeeze myself in towards the end of the semester in helping out that way.
Ok, registration should be open now. Time to sign up. Fun, fun, fun.
And I have a meeting tonight with the Arrival Camp coordinators. Should be interesting, since I'm half in charge of stuff. Very interesting.
:)
