Tuesday evening, I picked up two stray girls. From Sweden. OK, they weren't really stray, because I planned to have them surf my couch, but they would have gone astray if I hadn't picked them up from the bus station downtown.... Ida and Hanne....
Yes, two blond Swedes are staying until Sunday. Then, they go to L.A., then over to Hawaii for a week, a little weekend in Vegas, before finally flying home to Sweden. I took them on a quick driving tour of SF - went down the crooked street (lots of photos), showed them Haight and Ashbury (not a lot of photos) - before heading home for pizza. They've been to the Golden Gate Bridge, Chinatown, Fisherman's Wharf, North Beach... and hopefully today they'll have been to Alcatraz. Ida was adamant that she see Alcatraz before leaving SF. She's fit...I bet she could swim if tickets were sold out.
While blonde and blonder were out having fun with blisters, I've been studying! Try to smile for me folks because that's where my good news ends...
My professors weren't completely doubtful that I could pull off my exam in nine weeks time. But there was a definite cloud of we're-unsure-ed-ness hanging over our meeting yesterday. They gave me directions to focus on, so that I'm not literally reading every book on the list - again. That was good, but the areas I do need to focus on are not my strengths. Duh Liz, it's a test, and the purpose of tests is to test your knowledge AKA lack of knowledge. Hence the word TEST!
Sigh, I'd be better off not wanting to know things about the world and be a waitress who makes pies for a living a la Keri Russell. She got a happy ending after some not-so-great beginnings! Why not me?!
I haven't put off looking for a job, but I have money in the bank and I'm tutoring. So, if the five dozen resumes I've sent out (not to the same place obviously!...that would be overkill on the verge of employment-stalking) in the last two+ weeks don't get me a job soon, then... I'm just not for hire I guess. Sad face with shrug.
Hopefully a weekend at Dad's house with Rae, drinking wine and watching inappropriate films, will cheer me up and clear my mind of all things unemployed. Although, I would hate for this weekend to be the start of my life as a professional procrastinator. Hmmmm...
