Woe Is Me...

I got up at 4am this morning. I even tried going to sleep later in the night, so that I would maybe sleep until I had to wake up at 7am. But no... So, we go to Oslo Central Train Station to meet with all the other YFU kids and I get to meet them all. Some of them are from Germany, so I get to speak German with them. And others I have to speak English, but not always because they are from English-speaking countries. I don't speak Norwegian yet and they don't speak German. Logic.
One of the people I meet is Krister. He's a YFU volunteer. He's older than 18, I know. But he was in Mexico for his exchange year. So, we can speak in English or Spanish. It was helpful to hang out and talk with him because he knows all the people I'll be working with here. He's a nice guy. Not Hollywood handsome, but very sweet and kind and funny. He's got that presence, you know. Like you just like to be around him. So, hopefully I can catch up with him later this week.
The reason I say that is because I came home earlier this evening. I was dead tired after romping around all day and had a gigantic headache. Krister gave me a pill, strong stuff, and I tried to sleep. But it only got worse. I couldn't imagine staying up there in the cold and having to wake up in the middle of the night, which I'm guessing I'll do again tonight. So, Odd had come up with a tent and sleeping bags and I asked him to take me home.
So, we came home and ate some frozen pizza and I went to sleep again for four hours. I'm all off kilter and I have to be at least a little used to this time zone by Monday. I have to start work that day. So, hopefully I can fall asleep in a few hours and sleep until morning.
On top of this, my hoohoo is bright red and itches! Thank god hydro-cortisone is universal. But it didn't help that up at Holmenkollen today, there was no toilet paper in the toilets. Maybe that was a sub-conscious effort to bring me back home today as well. I needed my hydro-cortisone.
:)
I'm glad the headache came though. How could I explain the other to everyone? Excuse me, I have an itchy, red vagina and I need to go home? I don't think so.
But I did hire Cory from Canada to collect everyone's phone number for me. So that when I have my phone, which will be soon I can only hope, I can add everyone in and feel normal for having more than a few numbers in my addy book.
I should put my redness to bed soon. I hate this part of acclimation. I truly do.
