New jeans, Big dinner, Crack

My birthday was yesterday. I went out and bought myself a birthday present. Jeans. Well, I bought them on Wednesday, but I wore them yesterday. The fit like a glove. No belt required. And if I wear flat shoes, I have to roll them up, but for heels they hang perfectly. I'm muy happy, also because they were on sale. Thirty bucks, which is a cheap pair of jeans in Norway.

So, I invited Nina, Hanne, Camilla and Hanne-Sofie to dinner yesterday. I was actually going to cook food. Amazingly, it worked. I made rice with chicken in an Indian sauce that wasn't curry. And I heated up some mini-baguettes. Full meal, essentially. I admit, I did have help. But only like heating up the oven, defrosting the chicken, etc. Most of it I did myself. And not only was it edible, it tasted like it should have. I was shocked and totally joyful. And then only Camilla showed up. But Hanne was sick, Nina just got back from vacation and promised to spend time with her mom and Hanne-Sofie missed her plane from Bergen. So my flatmates helped us eat all the food. I still have three days worth of rice left over.

Crack refers to two things. I talked to Em last night for two hours. Two hours! I didn't get to sleep until after one-thirty. But it was good and we talked about tv programs, specifically Veronica Mars, Lost and CSI. We also talked about her job, which is OVER!!! She's ecstatic. She hated that place and the only good thing about it was the money. But even some jobs you can't stay in just for the money. Too much is too much. I saved up quite a lot from working at Berlitz, but where am I now? Exactly my point.

The TV we discussed was the other reference to crack - nabbed from April's blog. Although to me The OC is not crack, I can relate to her addiction to a show. I am completely addicted to Lost, CSI, Law and Order, Veronica Mars, Carnivale - - among others. And it doesn't help that I don't have lots to do once I go home. Although, tonight I'm going to try and work on my novel. Chapter Seven. Needs to get done before Tromsø, which is next weekend.

Torunn got us flowers from her garden. They smell so fantastic. Wild flowers... gotta love it. Em, ask my mom - they're tiny white "tulips" that hang downwards. And they're stringed together like bluebells. She'll understand my words, even if I don't. She's like that - genius. Loyal public, I will get back to you on what wild flowers they are.

Thayne update: He's moving to LA in July, after Keith gets hitched. He's going to try and find his own place right away and just start working. Amen, brother. I joked that when I get back we'll finally be in the same time zone after two years, which gives me cause to bug him more often! He pretended to be happy about it.
