I had a job interview yesterday, which went really well. It's an admin asst job at a Coldwell Banker up in the Sunset, up to 29 hours a week. It sounds like a good job because it's a good-paying gig and I don't have to get involved with the real estate business. And I'm not answering phones like crazy, maybe only if the receptionist goes to lunch or is extremely busy. Mostly I'm creating the house flyers for agents and helping agents and staff out in the computer room, where I will be working. One of the staff members, Kim, interviewed me. I also met and spoke with the manager, Bob. They both liked me. Bob seems like the kind of person my Dad would get along with, so I think I'll feel comfy around him. Not one of those weird hard-to-read managers, or the super-friendly manager. Because I do hate them too. At a certain point, you start to think it's all a facade and I hate people who never have a bad day.
Anyway, they said they were impressed and would call back sometime next week. The job wouldn't start until the 26th, or whatever Monday that is, and they still have some other interviews to conduct. I'm not keeping my fingers crossed, because there will be other jobs for me. But wouldn't it be cool to start earning money now? I can definitely save up credit for a car this way....
And technically, I'm the German Club's Vice President. This doesn't mean much, since the Club doesn't have regular meeting times or anything like that. But showing up to events would be considered a good thing, right? So, I'm going to Stammtisch today. It's where you just sit around and talk about a certain topic, but in German. For example, the last Stammtisch was about the hurricane. It's mostly for undergrads learning German, giving them an oppurtunity to stretch their vocab and pronunciation. But hardly anyone ever shows up - five people at the most. And there's a movie night next Saturday, when I am in California. It's a movie called "Im Juli", which means In July. And it sounds so good. So, I'm going to that one for sure.
And of course, I'm going to Portland this weekend to see Jen. This should be loads of fun since I haven't seen her in months and we're doing all kinds of wedding stuff. She's taking me to the location - she's not getting married in a church, Chris doesn't have an affinity to religious places per se - so, it's a double-whammy location. :) We're meeting the wedding coordinator. She can afford one because it comes with the location. How cool. And if we go out for lunch, we won't have to pay. It'll be an expense for her business. Love it. And of course, we have to find a dress for me. Jen's changed her colors again, but thankfully picked out some styles at David's Bridal. This is excellent because it's a national chain and I can buy the dress down here when I have time and money. Otherwise, I'd have to buy the dress in Portland this weekend and fly it back here. Not liking that idea.
When the wedding does come around (March 26th), I'm driving up. My mom has this idea to drive up with me on the Friday (16th, I think) so that there's two drivers. Then she'll fly down on the Sunday. Then she and Dad will fly up the next Friday, before the wedding, and we'll all drive back down together on the Monday after the wedding (the 27th). So, all in all, I'm up there for like ten days or so. And if we plan this now, I can let my professors know. I don't know when Spring Break is, but it's in April. But it'll be unexcused absences, but they'll know about it ahead of time. Hopefully, they'll help me out with the homework aspect of things. Luckily, I've only got two professors. Bad thing is if I'm teaching a class as a TA. Not sure how that would work out.
But that's all in the future. All work-out-able.
I've got clothes to put on and then I'm driving up to campus. Library here I come!
